BOOK TITLE: Knives + Forks
AUTHOR: Lorcan Volkov
GENRE: LGBTQ, Thriller Novella LibraryThing March 1 120 pages
BLURB: Brendan McFadden is an accomplished, rugby-playing doctor from Cork for whom everything in life has fallen nicely into place. His school friend, Trevor, hasn’t been so lucky: he’s in a miserable marriage and his career has so far been a series of false starts and financial disasters.
MY REVIEW: Not sure how I feel about this book. All the characters are morally grey, and the LGBTQ aspect seems to be there to be a trope.
BOOK TITLE: Crucifixus
AUTHOR: Belinda Tobin
GENRE: Historical Fiction Library Thing March 285 pages
BLURB: In the 17th century, women were silenced and forced to be subservient. Men declared their superiority and shaded their insecurities. Crucifixus shows how both suffered from the devastating impact of societal conventions founded upon fear.
MY REVIEW: Not sure why I did not care for this one….good premise, but maybe too many character switching POVs? Just not really my cup of tea. I wanted to like it more. The writing style was great as was the topic.
BOOK TITLE: The Gift
AUTHOR: Evette Davis
GENRE: fantasy 288 pages Due March 18th Direct from Author March 2025
BLURB: After a brutal act of terrorism shakes the Council to its core, they send supernaturally gifted Olivia Shepherd on assignment in Eastern Europe. What Olivia really wants is time to recover and process the stunning revelations she recently uncovered—secrets her parents have hidden from her all her life. But with a thousand-year-old vampire on her trail, rest is not in the cards for the reluctant witch, who is still discovering the extent of her powers.
MY REVIEW: I was so excited to get to continue this series. The Gift by Evette Davis is a thrilling continuation of The Others, diving deeper into the paranormal world and delivering an action-packed ride. Olivia's journey through the Council's secrets and lies is as gripping as ever, and Davis skillfully weaves suspense with emotion, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The characters are complex, and the plot twists are unpredictable, making this a must-read for fans of supernatural adventures. If you loved the first book, The Gift will not disappoint!
